Motivation

Here are a few photos of my pals who motivate me every day to do better, push harder and keep it fun. Carla, our award winning Irish dancer, has been in BC for about a year now, and rarely misses a class. Chrissy and Amy, and the team today (missing a few faces... Irene, Sarah, Karen, Carrie.... )

Since Feb 07, I've been a boot camper. Added CrossFit gym workouts in January with Carey who is teaching me a new respect for concentration and making me comtemplate form and weight load over speed. Yes, she's a tough cookie, though this photo may not reflect it. It does if you know her. However, if she demos another kipping pull-up for me in her current condition, I'm going to have to call and report it to her obgyn.

I love our military. The sacrifice they make for our country is amazing - and in a really small way, I'm helping to give thanks in promoting selling/sending Girl Scout cookies to soldiers overseas - my girls sold many boxes and my troop sold over 300 alone. This photo makes me proud - a fellow Girl Scout leader sent it along - love the sand and snow combo. It's nice to see that a Thin Mint can put a smile on a face so far from home. I hope they all get to come home soon - and in the mean time, that they get to CrossFit and work those cookies off afterward!

My running man -- finished the AT&T Marathon today just under 4 hours. He's been training for 6 months and today was the big day. The girls and I watched him run by at mile 8, 16.5, 20.5 and the very best - coming home. We are proud of you!!!

I have a feeling this is the first of many to come.

Last weekend I had the chance to take part in the first of our four Fittest Games Challenges. The first event was held here in Austin, TX @ CrossfitCentral. It was a Crossfit Benchmark Workout and I competed in what I think was Intermediate... rule, rules.. Twas called the "Phat Cindy" - 400 M run, 5 jumping pull-ups, 10 push-ups (not the girly kind) and 15 squats (no weight). Finished 5 full rounds and then some in 20 minutes - think I came in third or fourth place. Thanks to Zac - my counter, for cheering me along and my pal Michael Gregory for reminding me to get my butt to the ball!

Ok - it's not me... but despite the fact I've not done a hand stand since maybe Elementary school, Carey got me to do a few of them in the gym last week... even held one attempt for 60 seconds.
This is my youngest, Hannah, doing her thing at Little Gym -- she loves going and running the show there once a week.

Well, I have been a member of the CrossFit Central family now for a year -- started back in Feb '07. I think there will be more handstands in my future.
